為什麼只使用黑白紅?
我認為風格形成的本質在於——克制。插畫風格的「克制」便是將元素不斷地進行減法和濃縮。
在我過去的經驗中,中性色的「黑&白」從時尚學的極簡主義,墨韻悠長的水墨畫,情感內斂的攝影……都帶來更深遠的視覺觸動。在非黑即白的世界,透過繪製和創造符號探索更多可能。
而「紅色」絕不是一種溫和的顏色,在色彩學中最原始強烈、以及挑起本能情緒反應。是最具激發情慾、生命、女性氣息、吸引力的色彩,「紅色」自出現開始,包含的意義便和流淌在我們血液一樣深刻。
嚴格來說,色彩不一定是插畫畫風的必備要素。但當「黑白紅」三種顏色,自帶的情緒性質及輪廓,是能夠強化我的插畫語匯時,便能夠成為我插畫風格的主導元素。
Why I only use 3 colors?
Black, White and Red
I believe the essence of forming a style lies in restraint. In illustration, the essence of style restraint involves continuously subtracting and condensing elements.
In my past experiences, the neutral colors of black and white have brought deeper visual stimulation through the minimalism of fashion studies, the profound ink paintings, and the emotionally restrained photography. In a world of stark contrast between black and white, exploring more possibilities through drawing and creating symbols becomes imperative.
Red, on the other hand, is by no means a gentle color. It is the most primitive and intense in color theory, capable of evoking instinctive emotional responses. Red embodies desire, vitality, feminine essence, and allure. Since its inception, the significance of red has been as profound as the flow of blood in our veins.
When the three colors of black, white, and red, with their inherent emotional qualities and perfectly balanced contours, come together to express the vocabulary of illustration, they naturally become the dominant elements of my creative style.
